The Trip East

It’s Sunday, and we flew back home last night. The trip was long (three flights) but it went well. Other than a few mosquito bites I am none the less for it. It is always great seeing the east coast side of the family. They are so smart and funny and together; I must have been adopted, or dropped off on a door step. New England is so different than SoCal; it might as well be Jupiter. Trees and trees and trees surrounding houses, most of which can not even be seen from the road or by neighbors. We saw fireflies at night by the hundreds, beautiful creeks, small New England towns, a real general store, a bridge of flowers, bright red cardinals, lamas, and an actual bat.

It was wonderful seeing my sister and her family, and uncle and aunt and cousins. There is nothing like family. We paid a small tribute to my uncle Bob, who passed away earlier this year. I wrote a memory of Bob on the plane, but I didn’t get a chance to finish it on the trip, I finished it today and posted it on my site. Also, here is a link to some photos from the trip. Many a laugh was shared. Sorry Bill we tried as best we could to be serious, but funny can’t help but bust out when your around. We shared many a tasty meal and fine spirits. Better times where fewer had by mere mortals on this earth. I'm not just saying that.

Fun! That's the first word that springs to my fingertips as I type! I am not sorry I laughed once or twice. No harm done and I'm not just saying that. I have to admit that you are being-in-the-world in a very creative, worthwhile, and adventurous way since many of your views about what it's all about agree with mine as I understand them at this time! I think even Loretta had a very good time despite the fact that I was present. I hope I can stifle my risibility as I remember the stories and witticism from all sides during your visit. At my age I am trying to be serious and you has set me back 5 or 10 years so now I am younger than I actually am. Now everyone will say to me "Why don't you act your age?" I'm glad you are healing and will be ready for your next race. I'm going to do a 5K tomorrow and I hope to finish it in a couple of hours (actually I want to do under 39 minutes, which unfortunately is turtles pace, which is acting my age I suppose!) It was great fun and come again soon. Love to all.

Great pictures! I'm glad you guys had a good time. What did they all have to say about your summer off? I'm sure they were all envious.

I just saw the pictures.

Great to have the images that concretize memory. Vague details of memory transformed into the fact of what happened, fixed, suspended outside of time.

And now its not happening. Something else is. Time goes by and the contents of life's flow continually change.

Did it really happen? Did you visit here? There is this quality of a dream about past happenings. I know you were here because you were here and then there atre the pictures.

Seeing those pictures made me so happy (remembering our togetherness) and so sad (wishing we could have more togetherness, more often). I love you all.
