Art and Science

Today was a good day. I started off with Grandpa and the little one at Starbucks. He has told me his name twice, but I think he is telling me his whole name, first and last, and it's long, so I keep forgetting. I will just call him Grandpa. My ambitious plans for today were to try and get in both the Science and Technology Museum out on Pudong, and then back track towards home and see the Shanghai Art Museum in Peoples Square, I really thought I would only be able to get in one.
The Science and Technology Museum is inside a huge, beautifully architected building. It has a very good rain forest and natural history section. But the rest of it was kinda light, and nothing really caught my interest. The building was full of school children, who really enjoyed saying "hello" to me. I had lunch at the cafe in the museum, and then headed off to the Art Museum.
I really enjoyed the Art Museum, but it was very focused on modern art, which tends to puzzle me. My favorite was a dark room with a disco ball, and lined with big comfy chairs. The sign on the door says "VIP Lounge", but I went in anyway, and it's just an exhibit, with odd esoteric sayings being played while a light shines on the spinning disco ball. Coolness. There are a number of film exhibits that are excellent, one in particular. There is a fantastic mini documentary of the migration of workers in Africa who try to make their way to countries where they can find work. There is a whole trade in getting these people moved about. It was very well done. There is so much going on in the world that I am completely unaware of. But I didn't have to tell you that now did I.

So, do they have the NFL on TV? Thursday night football has started. I am watching the browns beat the broncos. The browns are finally starting Brady Quinn. I've been waiting to see him play for a year and half.
I hope you're having a good day. I'm impressed wih that museum. What an awesome building.
